Spend Memorial Day on the edge of your seat

Broken cover 6x9 SMALL

Spend your Memorial Day weekend on the edge of your seat with Connor and Shawn in my romantic suspense novel Broken Soldier, which just received another 5 STAR review!

Wow this story is very strong on the emotions. You couldn’t help but cry with them, and cheer with them.
This story is about Shawn Weller and Connor Finley, who work for Shadow Unit. They are both soldiers to the heart. But they also have a relationship between them. Everything gets thrown up in the air when they have a undercover assignment what will test their strengths and their relationship. Connor having to be a bodyguard for their target, who is a dealer in drugs and guns. And Shawn having to become the targets new boy toy, replacing the old.
This story is about how you have to find strength to fight addiction, and feeling weak. This story is so strong in emotion, that I couldn’t put it down. You had to know how it ended and if everything will be right with the world again. WTMO.

Two wonderful 4 STAR reviews of Broken Soldier!

4 STARS for Broken Soldier! Thank you PNR Book Lovers!                    Dang! What a ride that was. I still not sure what I can and cannot write.

Two military soldiers, in a relationship but they are undercover and they are in deep, so deep one cannot breathe!

Drugs, sex and more.

Connor and Shawn were great characters, they have a lot to get through!

Can they? What happens when you play with the devil?

It was a rough, emotional ride!

4 STARS for Broken Soldier! Thank you Kindle Crack Book Reviews!

Wow…this was my first Jamie Lynn Miller book and not my last. Broken was an unputdownable page turner. Sergeant Connor Finley and Sergeant Shawn Weller are partners and soldiers working for a covert anti-terrorism task force. They go deep under to penetrate an international sex, drugs and prostitution operation. Shawn becomes “lost” along the way in this gritty, suspense filled story. Will they survive or become broken?

One-click worthy!

Fantastic 5 STAR review for Broken Soldier!

5 STARS for Broken Soldier! Thank you Gay Media Reviews!

This was quite a hard book to read, mainly due to what Shawn went through while on the undercover mission.  You also really felt for Connor who had to sit and watch what was happening, but knowing he could do nothing about it.  You realize the two men love each other, but neither has actually said that to the other. They both come across as the strong silent types.

Shawn and Connor were partners within the Shadow Unit, but also partners in life – although nobody they worked with knew.  They know each other so well, and seem to have a special close bond between them.  However, things change on their latest undercover op, as Shawn has to get up close and personal with the main target of their mission.  Shawn has to put all his feelings for Connor aside, to enable him to be bedded by his target, but he is also having to take drugs during this time, and although he doesn’t like it has to do it to keep his cover.

To me, it was hard to read Shawn taking the drugs, but you could understand why he was doing so but you also knew that he hated every minute of this operation.  You would also take visits down memory lane with Shawn when he was being bedded by the main target, so he could think of Connor and not react and push the man away. To me, it came across as Shawn thinking he was now dirty to Connor, but thinking of Connor was the only thing to keep him going.

Connor is watching from the side-lines, and hates what he sees happening to Shawn, but he cannot intervene as they are so close to completing the mission.  Connor and Shawn spend a night together when they think it will be safe, but someone working for the target sees them and then it is a race against time for Connor and the rest of the team, to get in to save Shawn who has been outed.

Can Connor manage to arrive in time to save Shawn?  Does Shawn actually want Connor to save him, or is he so unstable now that he feels death would be the better release?  Can the love that Connor feels for Shawn survive what has happened?

Although I have said it was a hard book to read, I must say that I couldn’t put it down. I just had to keep reading to find out what happened to Connor and Shawn.

Throwback Thursday – Darkness Falls

Darkness cover final

For Throwback Thursday I thought I’d show some love to the first book I ever had published: Darkness Falls. It still holds a special place in my heart. 🙂

21,000 words

Matthew Tucker is a successful actor on a hit television show, his career on the rise. Life is good. What more could he want?

Daniel Westman, that’s what – his co-star and close friend for the last two years.

Matthew desires more than friendship with Daniel, though, his attraction for the other man growing day by day. So much so that Matthew gives up the safety and security of his current long-term relationship for the slimmest chance of a relationship with Daniel, feeling there’s something between them, just under the surface. And he was gambling his happiness on it.

But months go by, with Matthew suddenly afraid to go forward, to make the first move, to tell Daniel he was falling in love with him. Because if he was wrong, and Daniel was just being his natural charming self and Matthew was looking too deeply into it…he’d lose his best friend.

So instead Matthew longs for his friend in silence, until an accident on set may leave Daniel permanently blind. With his friend hurt, scared and confused, his life possibly forever altered, Matthew never wavers from Daniel’s side, no matter how difficult it gets.

His dedication brings them closer than ever before , but is it possible to find happiness, and love, in the wake of a tragedy? Or has Matthew’s hesitation cost him that chance and he’ll lose Daniel to the darkness instead?

5 STAR review for Broken Soldier!

Fabulous 5 STAR review for Broken Soldier! Thank you Alpha Book Club!

5.0 out of 5 stars
Amazing, Gritty, Emotional darker story
By Mollien Osterman Alpha Book Club
Format: Kindle Edition
Heat Level: 4.5 flames out of 5
Rating: 5 stars out of 5

This was a high action intense, graphic book. After reading it I was emotionally exhausted, and I absolutely loved every minute of it.

The plot of this story is an elite team of men and women working undercover. This mission has Sergeant Connor Finley and Sergeant Shawn Weller going deep undercover. So deep that Shawn almost pays the ultimate price. Connor, Shawn’s partner on the job and romantically, fights to keep his lover safe. The chemistry between these two is scorching hot, and the author beautifully conveys how much these two soldiers mean to one another. The pacing of this story is full throttle. Shawn pulls out all the stops to take down their mark.

The ending was moving. The characters in this book were inspirational.

4.5 STARS for Broken Soldier!

Broken Soldier Book cover

Another fantastic 4.5 STAR review for Broken Soldier from MM Book Escape!

Broken Soldier starts off with Shawn and Connor already a couple of 5-months, although hidden from their team, and part of the undercover ops called Shadow Unit for 4 years.

Going undercover is going to be risky for both Shawn and Connor. In order to put a stop to one of the worst drug and gun runners in the world, Jae Chan, they have no choice but to follow through.

Shawn’s mission is to get inside Jae’s home and bed, if necessary and Connor’s will be to work inside his club as security in order to gain inside information.

These two are soldiers, one was a Navy Seal, the other CIA, so this assignment should be easy. Get in there, get the information, and get out. But, as you can imagine, it did not work that way.

The author takes the story and runs away with it from here. She had me completely captivated with the story from the moment the mission began. I was on edge with a constant fear that something bad was going to happen. The plot was engaging and intense taking me right along with it and, often times, I had to remember to keep breathing.

It’s graphic, it’s brutal, it’s hard to read, it’s emotional, but it’s real. As Shawn gets in over his head, it’s so hard for Connor to watch from the sidelines. His first response is to pull the plug on the whole mission, but not only will that give away their relationship, it also allows Jae Chan to get away, and that can’t happen.

Shawn tries to convince his partner he’s fine, but he’s far from it. He’s immersed into drugs, alcohol, and sex, and his body is craving what is mind knows it shouldn’t.

To those who don’t want to look too far, the mission was a success, but for those who were there, there’s more than a broken soldier left behind. There’s also a broken partner trying to rebuild what they had before.

The author describes what I truly imagine substance withdrawal to be like. It’s a gut-wrenching reality and a painful look behind a real addiction.

I love the way Connor stands by Shawn with a fierce determination to help him through this hurdle and to show him their love is stronger than the addiction.

Overall, the story was intense, suspenseful, and kept my attention till the end. It can easily be read in one sitting and I enjoyed the author’s descriptive narrative and how she pulled me inside the story giving me a clear visual of the scene that was taking place. My only complaint, if I was to have one, was the ending wrapped up a little too fast and unexpectedly.

4 STARS for Broken Soldier!

4 STARS for Broken Soldier! Thank you Nicci’s Book Blog!

This blurb just called me I had a feeling it was going to be on the darker side and it did not disappoint at all, I could not put it down. This is the first book that i have read by this author and I will defiantly be reading more from them for sure.

I love the fact that both men were military trained and in a established relationship right from the start. They work on undercover missions and this one has the potential to take them to the limit, to destroy everything they have together.

Connor and Shawn were great characters, they have this great connection and a strength together, the way they hold each other up during this mission was amazing they give the other person the support to find there way back from the dark place they find themselves in. These are two very strong men.

Broken Soldier is exceptional in its writing, this story almost felt real. Although there are dark elements to this story there are some beautiful lighter moments, I cannot stress how much I liked Connor and Shawn as a couple and i wish this book was longer.

Wonderful 4.5 STAR review of Broken Soldier!

Wonderful 4.5 STAR review of Broken Soldier!  Thank you, Carra!

Whoever thought up the phrase “light reading” sure did not have Broken Soldier in mind. With subject matter that is frankly a bit disturbing and characters who you will immediately become invested in, this is a serious, dramatic read that will take you into some very dark corners and tear you up a bit while you’re there.

As the story begins, our lead characters, Connor and Shawn, are headed undercover into what we already expect to be a very shady situation. The book’s synopsis already lets us know there’s drugs, sex and arms dealing…but what you’ll also find is the destruction of not just one but two men along the way. The story fully dragged me into the depths of their situation to the point where I was deeply troubled about the circumstances Connor and Shawn-particularly Shawn-were in. Honestly, if these types of undercover operations happen in the real world, I would find it utterly unconscionable that this would occur and be condoned.

The writing and storyline really grabs a hold of you and immerses you in this world. I can’t see anyone reading this and not being disturbed by what happens to Shawn as things spiral out of control for him. In addition, the way it affected Connor had my heart aching. While the op itself was full of suspense and drama, the aftermath as Shawn has to heal from what he went through is emotional, heart-wrenching and shows what not only an addict has to go through to get clean (even for a short stint of drug use), but how that also affects someone who loves them.

Both Shawn and Connor become broken by what happens, and they both help each other to overcome the consequences. Watching as events unfold had me riveted to the book, and suffering a bit of a book hangover once I was done.

4.5 disturbed stars for Broken Soldier. I’d recommend this to M/M romance fans who prefer their subject matter on the darker, more dramatic side. This is strictly for readers 18+ due to adult language, drug use and other illegal activities, and explicit M/M sexual content. This is the first time I’ve read one of this author’s books, and I’ve now added her entire backlist to my TBR list…fantastic work!
